Books for children can shape the world!

Hello! It’s been a while.

I realised the other day that I haven’t posted since January! Not because there’s been nothing to say. Quite the opposite, in fact. Sometimes the story of real life gets busy, loud, and tangled, and before you know it, months have passed. So first of all: sorry for the silence.

But here’s what I’ve learned during the quiet. Even when we’re not writing, stories are still growing. Like seeds underground, they push and shift. I’ve been scribbling ideas on receipts, on the back of my hands, on discarded envelopes, while wading through muddy woods listening for character voices, working through a draft that’s refusing to behave!

So what’s next?

• A peek behind the curtain at how a story begins its life — questions and research.

• Thoughts on writing for children with a sense of adventure, who care deeply about righting wrongs

• And perhaps a few clues about a new story still unfurling

If you’re a reader, a writer, a teacher, or a curious soul who believes that kids’ books can shape and change the world — I’m glad you’re here!

Lots of love,

Yonnie x
